Flexible, Trekker and Admiral Saddles are ecological and ethical choices.
We pay attention to the whole lifespan of the saddle.
Materials
The saddles are made of German quality leather which is extremely durable when properly cared for. Numerous synthetic materials used in many other saddles today are often made in the Far East, sometimes with little control of what the environmental consequences are.
Production
The saddles are made in the E.U., with no child labour, under European labour laws, and the regulations for the protection of the environment. Our saddles are manufactured mainly by hand unlike many other labels. The energy consumption and the amount of waste are minimal.
Design
The fact that a flexible saddle usually fits even if the horse changes shape, means one does not need not buy a new saddle to match every change in shape. This means less consuming and less strain on the environment.
Quality control
Novelties are tested by professional riders. Every finished saddle is inspected by two master saddlers. Quality is durable and therefore ecological.
Shipping
Distances within Europe are short. No long transports back and forth, from continent to continent to ship materials or finished products. No costly intermediaries. Transport is concentrated and therefore energy-efficient. No excessive packaging is needed. Many other labels consume a lot of non-ecological wrapping and packaging materials to protect the products during long transports and numerous unloadings and reloadings.
Use And Care
Our saddles are easy to keep clean. Because of carefully planned details, dirt won't pack into the leather which saves the leather from wearing out. There are no visible stitches at spots that are under pressure, to save the stitches from wearing out.
Repairing And Replacing
All the parts can be replaced, so it will not happen that the saddle cannot be repaired anymore, something which happens to treed saddles with a broken tree.
Daily cared for, Flexible, Trekker and Admiral saddles will stay beautiful and functional for a very long time. The absolute quality of the saddles and the fact that they fit different types of horses much more likely than treed saddles, make them keep their value. By choosing a Flexible, Trekker or Admiral you will support European employment and make a stylish contribution towards a bright ecological future.
The unique concept, model and structure of Flexible, Trekker and Admiral have been registered and covered by patent authorities worldwide.
What makes Flexible Saddles® unique?
What is the difference between flexible, treed and treeless saddles?
Flexible Saddles®
The labels Flexible, Trekker and Admiral are fully flexible. Flexible Saddles® have been made by German manufacturers since the beginning of the 21st century.
The registered Leather Flex® structure is made of leather and synthetic materials and is reinforced with metal. The rider weight is distributed efficiently. The shock absorption is better than in treed saddles.
Flexible saddles are soft and firm to sit it and make weight aids clear. Flexible saddles are easy to fit. The same saddle fits fairly different types of backs, various widths and both straight and curved backs. The saddle adapts when the horse rounds his back, so the saddle rests evenly on the back in different situations – i.e. the saddle fits and doesn't restrict the horse's movement.
Saddles with a slightly flexing tree
Some labels that make treed saddles have saddles that are called 'flex' or 'flexible'. They usually have a traditional type of hard tree that flexes a little at some points. A saddle like this is much stiffer than Flexible Saddles®. A saddle like this doesn't fit different widths. It is a fixed fact how straight or curved a treed saddle is. That is why a treed saddle can truly fit (=follow the contour of the horse's back) in just one of the countless positions of the back. It's sometimes said a treed saddle is always a compromise.
Treeless saddles
Some treeless saddles are thin, practically like bareback pads with a pommel and a cantle. Some special pads under a treeless saddle don’t distribute the rider's weight evenly and don’t always leave the spine free of pressure. The shock absorption of these types of treeless saddles is not usually very good.
